Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Summary of Position:    Manage all aspects of payroll processing of the multi-state adjunct payroll. This includes working closely with various departments that input pay and enter stipends for the semi-monthly payrolls. Submits all university payroll tax files to ADP for tax payments and reporting. Maintains Excel spreadsheets for all tax information for all payrolls.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute all payroll aspects of adjunct payroll, including E-verify, attaching employee to a position, communication with the employee, process pay, garnishments, termination process and managing multi-state taxes.
  • Transmit all IWU export tax files and amendments to ADP
  • Collaborates with ADP Account Manager on tax issues, amendments and tax agency notices
  • Complete interrogatories and generate garnishments for all employees
  • Create position codes for adjunct classes
  • Assist team with various projects (examples – reconciliations, annual leave process, employee gift checks) and other duties as assigned
  • Backup other Payroll Specialists, when needed
  • Annually research and distribute new tax forms – all state and federal forms
  • Annually research, distribute and collect PA local tax exemption forms for all PA employees

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, preferred


  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience/Strong Excel skills/ADP experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and culture
