Job Title: Communications Coordinator for External Affairs

Reporting Relationship: Vice President for External Affairs

Unit: Central Administration

Campus Location: John Wesley Admin Bldg

Summary of Position:    The Communications Coordinator for External Affairs will support the President’s Office, coordinate communications, manage the editorial process for Triangle Magazine, editor for church and government relations newsletters and events, and act as liaison with IWU marketing agencies.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate as a Triangle Magazine editorial staff member, including finding stories, arranging photoshoots, assisting with theme development, proofreading, and signing off on the final proof.
  • Manage and maintain website and board portal related to the work of the President’s Office.
  • Create and maintain and update External Affairs KPI dashboard.
  • Facilitate communication and manage project timelines between the President’s Office and marketing departments to create promotional pieces, programs, announcements, brochures, etc.
  • Manage and assist with coordinating and planning special events and projects led by the President’s office that are sensitive to a completion date (i.e., Society of World Changers event, government official campus visits, etc.)
  • Supporting the VP for External Affairs to plan, organize, and manage communication vehicles from the President’s Office.
  • Manage denomination and church relations, including communication vehicles, general conference, regional events, etc.)
  • Assist with managing department budget.
  • Support a wide variety of operational duties, including greeting visitors, scheduling, and maintaining the office condition.
  • Coordinate and prepare letters, general correspondence, newsletters, speeches, and reports from rough drafts or detailed instructions. Proofread final correspondence.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience

  • Must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management, public relations, event planning, and marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of business English, including commonly accepted grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules. Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Embrace and clearly articulate the mission, vision, and values of the University.
  • Ambitious, Self-starter
  • A high degree of confidentiality is required
  • Well organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to develop and organize events
  • Experience in managing budgets and reports
  • Time management and proficient attention to detail

  • Problem-solving, creative thinking, and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Competent computer knowledge, including such programs;
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
