Job Title: Student Services Coordinator

Reporting Relationship: Associate Vice President of the Talent Ladder

Unit: National & Global

Department: N&G Talent Ladder

Campus Location: Indianapolis North Education Center

Summary of Position:    The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement of potential Talent Ladder (TL) certificate students and those seeking IWU degrees through the enrollment and support services processes. This position will include registering, advising, and supporting students to ensure successful matriculation through TL programs. (S)he will also act as the liaison with other operational offices in N & G where necessary.

The Student Services Coordinator will accomplish these goals through extensive communication and engagement with students to promote their success throughout their programs. The person filling this position will develop a comprehensive grasp of TL certificate programs as well an adequate understanding of IWU academic programs, and will assist the TL in developing and modifying plans to recruit, enroll, and retain students.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help new students to onboard and transition successfully into certificate and academic programs 
  • Engage in frequent and meaningful communication (telephone, text, social media, email, etc.) with students in all steps throughout their enrollment, learning, and completion process 
  • Accurately maintain student records in Talent Ladder systems to ensure proper reporting, forecasting, and projecting of enrollment efforts 
  • Maintain updated knowledge of Talent Ladder programs and services 
  • Advise students on resources for resume writing, interviewing, ascertaining job search skills, developing LinkedIn profiles and other career development topics 
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts closely with marketing, student services areas, and academic units 
  • Support the coordination of partner programs with TL learners as new relationships with employers are formed and custom certificate programs are delivered 
  • Provide students with relevant occupational and employment information to help them explore a broad range of career options and professional development strategies 
  • Carry out other tasks when needed or as assigned by the Director, Program and Contract Management 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree required from a regionally accredited university in business, leadership, communications, or ministry.

Experience

  • Required Experience. Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in higher education student services, product operations, or a related field is required
  • Preferred Higher Education Experience. Experience with university student service functions (e.g., advising, prior learning assessment, registrar, or other academic operations) is preferred

Required Skills

  • Communication. Superior ability to communicate in all forms (e.g., verbal and written) and modicums (e.g., electronic, in-person, or otherwise)
  • Leadership. Significant capacity to develop and lead students through their orientation to the university and their successful completion of a program of study
  • Interpersonal Relationships. Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
  • Project Management. Ability to manage multiple, complex projects through a combination of systems and agile thinking
  • Technology. Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and introductory experience in enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, data analytics, and project management tools are preferred
