Job Title: Graduation Specialist

Reporting Relationship: Assistant Director of Registration & Academic Services

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Residential Academic Services

Campus Location: Marion

Summary of Position:    The Graduation Specialist supports our mission by helping IWU-Marion students thrive as they seek to meet requirements to graduate.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a hard-working member of the RAS team
  • Serve with professionalism and a high level of customer service
  • Assist team with other large events, such as, Graduation Ceremonies, Baccalaureate, and New Student Registrations
  • Coordinate and lead Graduation collaboration with Registrar’s Office including maintaining and updating graduation records, publishing commencement student program pages and organizing the distribution of commencement tickets
  • Train students and academic advisors on the requirements for graduation, the use of degree audits, and the policies and procedures of the RAS Office
  • Certify that graduates have fulfilled all requirements prior to receiving certificates of degrees; make recommendations for alternative methods of meeting degree requirements when appropriate
  • Evaluate graduation applications and assess the plan to complete requirements established by the university, college, school, and/or division
  • Ensures accuracy of academic records by applying approved course substitutions and exceptions
  • Provide graduate information to graduating students and other departments when necessary
  • Maintains procedure manual for related areas of responsibility
  • Assist as an RAS Advisor for General Studies Students, as needed
  • Complete projects and other duties as assigned - (Essential)

Education

• A college degree is required.
