Job Title: Collections Analyst

Reporting Relationship: Collections Supervisor

Summary of Position:    The Collections Analyst supports all collection activity for the university by assuring the accuracy of accounts, seeking resolution with students, submitting accounts to collection agencies, managing the account until payment is received, and providing excellent customer service to both students and agencies.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • In-house Collections
    • Conduct initial account balance verification upon student completion or withdrawal from the University 
    • Serve as primary contact with student regarding current balance upon withdrawal from the University 
    • Track and collect account balances using defined procedures and applicable payment plans 
  • Work with outside collection agencies upon discontinuation of in-house collection efforts
    • Track student accounts through outside collection agencies
    • Manage transfer of accounts between agencies and IWU throughout the collection lifecycle 
  • Foster informative, efficient, friendly, accurate and customer-centered relations with students in the collections process 
  • Provide requested data in order to monitor patterns in bad debt 
  • Accurately perform manual adjustment from active to write-off subsidiary on a timely basis 
  • Maintain accuracy of write-off subsidiary in relation to agency records 
  • Communicates effectively with timely follow-up to ensure excellent service is provided to both internal and external customers 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education

Associate's degree or the equivalent

Experience

Two (2) years experience in a related field, collections experience preferred

Required Skills

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
  • Be a resourceful problem-solver/analytical thinker
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain composure and project confidence during difficult conversations
