Job Title: Software Developer

Summary of Position:    This position is part of a team with a diverse skill set, responsible for improving, researching, analyzing, troubleshooting, and consulting on UIT-supported software applications and systems, as well as integrating and developing new and existing software, databases, and reporting solutions in web and/or desktop contexts. Some key languages used are C#, UniBasic, T-SQL, HTML/XML/XSLT, CSS, and Javascript (with emphasis on jQuery and KnockoutJS). Individuals are encouraged and guided to specialize and cross-train. Of primary focus are Azure DevOps, ERP, CRM, Document Imaging, and Web applications.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and develop:
    • Enterprise software and databases
    • Reports and utilities
    • Interfaces with third party software and systems
  • Facilitate communication with clients, coworkers, and vendors
  • Possess good interpersonal skills
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, applications and projects
  • Provide consultation on IT projects as a subject matter advisor/resource as applicable based on skillset and experience
  • Complete assignments according to stated expectations - (Essential)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.

Experience

• Two years of experience with software development and one year of experience in general database programming.
• Microsoft/Apple operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and a specialization in Ellucian Administrative software, report-writing tools or ASP.NET (Web Form and MVC), Git version control system.

Required Skills

• Use keyboard for extended time intervals
• Read from a computer monitor for extended time intervals
• Work productively in an open environment
• Position may occasionally require planned or unplanned after-hours work
• Position may be stressful during resolution of critical events
