| Summary of Position:    The Assistant Esports Coach – Valorant position will oversee the IWU Valorant program by attending all practices, matches, and team events, providing constructive feedback for improvement, managing rosters, and working individually with student-athletes to ensure progress and growth. 
 The Assistant Esports Coach – Valorant will also be responsible for working with the Head Esports Coach to monitor the academic progress of the members of the Valorant team. They must also ensure that the students they oversee can grow within the Athletic Department’s motto of Both/And, as well as the Esports team’s core values of Kindness, Belonging, Integrity, Humility and Courage.

Specific responsibilities
Support the spiritual development of each player through intentional discipleship strategies, maximizing the team's potential/abilities, keeping athletes eligible, and retaining athletes through graduationEnsure spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, and social welfare of student-athletesDevelop, manage, and successfully lead the Valorant Team including practices, scheduling, assisting the Head Coach in recruiting, equipment management, and appropriate social media involvementEnsure adherence with established institutional NECC compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behaviorEnsure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletesManage all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with University, NECC expectations, and institutional rules, policies, and proceduresParticipate in long-range planning and assessment, attend all departmental training sessions and meetings, read and comply with all departmental policy manualsWork closely with the Head Esports Coach to ensure proper upkeep of athletic facilitiesOpportunity to develop sport camps and conferences as fundraisers and compensation supplement
 
General Expectations
Build a Valorant Team on the foundation of a disciple-making cultureCounsel with Valorant Student-Athletes and refer as necessary regarding spiritual, personal, emotional, or academic problemsParticipate as requested in committees, councils, or professional organizations that pertain to this position. Attendance at chapel services is encouragedMaintain a professional image and manner consistent with Indiana Wesleyan University's mission and goals. Support the policies of the student handbook with integrityWork within the Athletic Department to foster an environment of cooperation and unityAttend and lead five Valorant practices, matches or team events each week during the Fall and Spring Semesters, unless explicitly given an exemption. Must be able to attend all practices and matches in-person at the Esports Facility on the Marion CampusEncourage and facilitate growth for the Valorant team in five key areas: Valorant, Physical Health, Mental Health, Academic Health, Spiritual HealthLead at least two full esports team Bible studies each semesterAssist the Head Esports Coach in recruitment of talented and mission-oriented Valorant players  Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement. | 
| Education 
High School Diploma or GED Experience 
Should have some level of experience in coaching Valorant that includes recruiting student-athletes, marketing, scheduling, equipment budgeting/management, and facility care Required Skills 
Must demonstrate a mature and expressive Christian faith commitmentNeeds to passionately support and articulate the University's mission and vision for athletics within the context of that missionMust subscribe to the principles and lifestyle of the Wesleyan ChurchKnowledge of Valorant, including character matchups, techniques, and combos, along with a willingness to continue to learn the gameCommitment to the Both/And motto and the core values of IWU Esports |
